It was a breezy spring morning as we walked down to Flags. Ranchos Los Mochos, a beautiful mountain camping ground, looked as beautiful as ever. We trudged down the path, thinking about nothing much at all. Suddenly, I hear a Scout on my right say, “I’m stuck.”
I tilt my head, turning my gaze away from the clear sky, and instead into the ground before me. I can’t see my feet anymore. All I see is mud.
All of a sudden, Scouts drop like flies before the American flag. The adult leaders in the back stare in awe.
There was a patriotic sense of beauty in what we would later call this moment, The Trenches.
Reconstruction
We scurried back to the campsite in crusty kicks and wet socks. Immediately, the Scouts got to work, thinking of ingenious ways to tidy up. A notable invention from that morning was the Breadwinner Ugg Nike Air Max 2000s. [mage on the right!]
After recovering from this battle against nature, we headed down to Camporee Activities.
Scouting Fun
Having received the Spirit Stick from the previous camporee, a lot was at stake. Our 4 patrols gave their all to earn points in various activities. Kylie’s patrol set records in a log & Scout-lifting. Also, Keisha, a new Scout who recently joined our troop, single handedly solved the multi-troop grid puzzle.
Later that day, the Scouts developed 2 skits to perform during the Campfire that night; the leaders/writers were Rannvi and Pahal!
Returning
To accomodate for the heavy rain starting at 2 AM the next day, tons of packing and loading of troop equipment were done up till midnight. The Scouts and adult leaders worked hard to ensure an easy departure the next morning.
When the morning finally came, we simply packed up our tents and left. Overall, the trip was a success! The majority of the campers were new; they had little BSA experience but handled the tough conditions like true Scouts!
