On April 3rd, 2021, half of our scout troop left for our camping trip at Mt. Madonna. Upon reaching the campsites, we immediately got started with unpacking our troop supplies and getting our tents set up. Directly afterwards, we started planning for a quick 2 mile hike. We planned our route and set off with some water and a map. The woods were beautiful, and we even managed to spot some banana slugs!
By the time we got back to our campsite, we had only about 45 minutes of daylight left, so we got to cooking dinner right away. While some of us boiled water for the pasta, others were in charge of getting kindling and setting up the campfire. The pasta turned out great, and with the mozzarella and chili flakes to top it off, along with a side of breadsticks, it was bound to be a perfect meal.
After everyone ate, we split up into groups of 3 to plan for our campfire skits! All the skits were super funny, and we had a great time performing them. By that time it was already dark, so we made some s'mores! We forgot to get graham crackers (rookie mistake), but marshmallows and chocolate were still delicious. Right after we finished eating, we washed our dishes and cleaned up the supplies. After putting out the fire we went to sleep.
The next morning, we woke up and immediately started breakfast. We took turns and made pancakes!! Breakfast turned out amazing, and we had hot chocolate to warm us up. We cleaned up the supplies again and mapped out a route for another nice, short hike.
Once we got back, we were already running a bit late, so we immediately took down our tents and got ready for a sweep. By the time we finished checking the campsite for litter, the parents had arrived, and we went home. All in all, the campout was really fun and everyone had a great time!
