Imagine being surrounded by the smell of rain, quiet nature, and a variety of animals. That’s exactly how this campout felt! Our trip started off with scents of scents of grilled chicken and noodles, as we cooked lunch at MSJ. We ate at Chadbourne and drove to the campsite. Not to our surprise, everything was wet, except a patch of land covered by a roof. Next, we set up our tents, except for this one 6-person tent, which happened to have a broken pole. We tried using ropes, knots, hair ties, everything imaginable, and still ended up using a 2-person tent. We later played “Steal the bacon”, but used a rope as the bacon. As the evening progressed, we cooked dinner and used two Dutch ovens for the delicious brownies and apple cobbler desserts. After we finished eating, we realized we had a bit of a bathroom situation. Everyone who went kept seeing many spiders and… frogs! We all ended up using the bathroom behind a tree while singing the Roblox version of ecstasy and building a human wall in front of the person, to make it less scary. Later, we played Mafia, but still ended up going to sleep pretty early.
Did you know that children need at least 8 hours of sleep? Our wake-up time was pretty good proof of that! Unfortunately, we woke up 15 minutes behind schedule, so we had to make breakfast quickly. We then cleaned up and went on a stunning hike along the riverside. We took many photos, and concluded the hike with some carrot sticks and hummus!
