Navigation Hike:
The navigation hike took place at Coyote Hills regional park. This hike was really nice. Most of the trail was flat and it only got a little steep towards the end. The weather was nice and sunny but not too hot. It was a beautiful landscape with amazing views over the park, the bay, and even the Dumbarton Bridge! All the scouts maintained a good pace and had fun on this hike.

This hike also included the Second Class navigation requirement. This requirement taught the scouts how to use a map and compass and how to find their bearings(how many degrees from true north.) We used the map and compass to navigate our way through the hike. Everybody who went on the hike learned valuable skills, navigation, and how to use a map and compass.
The hike was also a service project. Along the way, we picked up trash using the janitorial sticks from our troop's equipment. We stored the trash in plastic bags and threw it away in a proper trash bin. Even if you did not come to the hike, you can contribute in your own way by throwing away any trash in a trash can and recycling. Many people passing by us also thanked us for our service!

All in all, this hike was very fun. The weather was nice and the trail was flat. I recommend this hike to any new scouts that want to condition themselves for longer and harder hikes. It is good practice for hikes like Mission Peak which is long and steep. It is a very nice hike and I hope to do this hike as a troop again in the future! Thank you for reading!
