The year 2024’s Spring Camporee was an unforgettable experience for all the scouts who attended. Unlike last year, when rain turned the trails into a muddy mess, we were greeted with clear skies and surprisingly dry ground—a rare blessing for all scouts. As we arrived at Rancho Los Mochos, the excitement was strong, scouts couldn’t wait for the games the following morning.
Saturday morning began the real test of the weekend: the camp-wide competition. Troops across the district faced off in events ranging from knot-tying relays to tent setup speed rounds. The competition was fierce, but our troop was ready. The teamwork and energy paid off, and by the end of the day, we had racked up an impressive number of awards, which we’ll mention later.
After a long day of hard work, we jumped right into one of the most chaotic parts of any campout—cooking. With stoves fired up and ingredients scattered across tables, scouts scrambled to prepare their meals. Despite a few burnt pieces of brownie and some near disasters with the fire cranked up on the stove, dinner was a highlight of the trip. The Alfredo and Marinara pasta were crowd favorites, with scouts lining up for seconds—and some even thirds.
As Sunday morning rolled around, we packed up our gear, leaving no trace behind. We went to the flagpole ceremonies, where awards were announced. Each time we were called we brought another ribbon into our hands—7, 8… and finally 9 awards in total. To top it all off, we won the Spirit Stick for the third year in a row, proving that our troop’s energy and enthusiasm were unmatched.
After a final troop photo and some last-minute scouting shenanigans, we hit the road, exhausted but proud. Overall, Spring Camporee 2024 was a weekend of challenges, victories, and unforgettable memories.
