Mothers Day Outing

Mother’s Day, the day where every mother should get appreciated for the work they do all year long, and we certainly tried our best to appreciate them this year. From pani puri and chat, to pot painting, to warm chai and samosas, I personally think all the scouts worked really hard to make this event work.
The start was the planning process. The PLC met up every Monday for a couple of weeks brainstorming ideas, such as kayaking, bowling, carnival games, candle making, and more, but after discussing with some other scouts as well, we finally decided on pot making. Tanvi Ramesh and Dhaeshna were able to come up with an entire plan with the costs, as well as food items listed out, in a very organized manner. As Uma auntie said, “Thank you Saanvi, other scouts, and the dads who volunteered today for the wonderful time on Mothers Day. Special thanks to the people who did the clean up work after. Had a great time painting the pots. It was a nice idea.”
We asked the dads to cook and Mr. Verma made chai, while Mr. Vijay made fresh Bhel puri and pani puri. We also ordered samosas and pakora, and had an entire Indian feast, after which we started painting. Earlier, before the moms arrived, we set up 3 tables filled with paints, brushes, water cups, napkins, and the pots, so everything would be set up for them. After checking that the moms were alright, we realized that there were a couple of extra pots, and a couple of the scouts could paint as well. We used a lot of reference photos as well, and Surbala auntie actually got these mandala sticks for the moms, allowing for precision and proper design.

At the end, we had some food left, so we created little baggies for people to pick up while leaving. The adults also lined up with boxes, cartons, and bottles, ready to pick up some extra pani puri water for their ride home.
Overall, our Mothers Day celebration went very well, and there are a lot of people to thank for that. Tanvi Ramesh and Dhaeshna were able to quickly get all the links and pricing for the entire event and ordered and picked up food. Ruhi picked up the cakes (which were great), as well as many tables and more. Kylie and Siyona weren’t even part of the planning team, yet they arrived even before I did, and left with me, doing so much work that I think it would have been hard doing it without them. The dads helped so much with setting up and taking stuff down, especially Mr. Vijay who made the wonderful pani puri and bhel puri which everyone loved, as well as Mr. Verma who made the wonderful chai. Surbala auntie not only let us use her yard but made sure that anything we needed, we had. Overall I’d like to thank the dads for their help and support to make this event possible as well as the scouts themselves who worked hard to make this event possible. Happy Mother's Day!
