Memorial Park Camping 3/26

On March 26th we had a campout. This campout was a 3-meal campout. We arrived at the campsite at 11:30 am, and immediately set-up our tents. After putting up our tents, we started making lunch; we made and ate cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches. Before setting up our tents, we realized that the hike that was chosen for this campout was located in Hayward instead of Memorial Park. Thankfully, two of our wonderful scouts went to the front office to find a hike that was located in our area. Once we finished lunch, we had a tenting competition. Mr. Juneja separated the scouts into two teams, and we raced to see which team finished assembling and dis-assembling the tents. Later, we played Steal the Bacon, and ended off the games portion of our campout with a game of Mafia. Soon after, we started to prepare and make dinner at 6:30. For dinner, we made cheese quesadillas with a delicious side dish of chips and guacamole. While the assigned scouts made dinner, the other scouts helped make a fire. Sadly, the fire took a while to ignite, but eventually the fire came to life and we roasted s’mores while jamming out to music. Shortly after, the scouts were getting tired and heading to bed. All the scouts went to their tents by 10:30.

As a new day started, all the scouts started to wake up around 6-6:30. We started to run a bit behind time, but our plans started to go placidly. After all the scouts finished packing up their tents, we all started to prepare breakfast. We made yogurt parfaits for breakfast and it was a big hit. With our renewed energy, we started our 5-mile hike super hyped up. But things started to get out of hand when it started to drizzle causing the scouts to separate. 30 minutes later, we grouped back together and continued our hike. When we reached the intersection, we noticed some high-end sports cars zooming past us and foolishly decided to wave at them. Bad Idea! One of the cars came back to us and thought that we were lost and in trouble. Thankfully, the situation didn’t accumulate into a worse situation. After we safely reached back to our campsite, we did one last count off and we were on our way back home! Overall I think that this campout was a really big success and all the scouts had an amazing time on campout!

Thanks for reading our post and stay tuned for more coming up!
