Hiking MB - 10 miles (2/15/2025)

It was a cold, windy morning on February 15, 2025, when a group of scouts from Troop 2123 began, what was for many of them, their first 10 mile hike. Along with a group of scouts with heavy backpacks training for Philmont and a horde of parents, the scouts started the hike.

The trail was moderate, with a constant yet mild elevation gain. After about two hours, the scouts completed the first half of the hike and stopped to eat at a rather anticlimactic “summit”. In truth, it was simply a clearing, which was the point of highest elevation on the trail. This clearing was near a road, so many scouts were cheering on the speeding cars while they ate.

After eating, everyone was revived and went on with renewed energy. This may have also been due to the fact that the rest of the trail was largely downhill. However, the extreme amount of mud on the trail was an experience no one enjoyed.

In total, the scouts hiked about 11.5 miles and ended their tiring ten-mile hike with some stretches and socialization.
