Fun Easter Celebrations From Around The World

Easter is one of the oldest and most important Christian festivals. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, and there is 40 days of fasting prior, and after the festival. Usually kids hunt for eggs filled with candy and participate in spring parades, but not all places celebrate this way.

In Sweden, children dress up in costumes from local folklore, such as witches, and go from door to door asking for candy in exchange for Easter cards, and drawings. In Norway, everyone’s televisions, and theaters are filled with murderous crime. This unusual ritual can be traced back to a 1923 advertisement, for a new crime book. People began buying the book and it became a big hit. Authors began releasing stories around the time of the festival and movie makers joined it. It became a big hit. In Haux, France people create a gigantic omelet using over 15,000 fresh eggs, and is enough to feed 10,000 people. In Greece, people throw jugs of water out their windows. It is supposed to be adopted from the Venetians. In Poland and Ukraine, people have large water balloon fights, and is supposed be adopted from many places around the world including Buffalo, New York, which boats a big Polish-American community.
