On April 22, our troop embarked on a camping trip to Coyote Lake Campground. Upon arrival, we quickly set up our tents and brushed up on our compass and navigation skills in preparation for our hike the following day. While at the lake, some scouts enjoyed skipping stones while others lounged in the sun with a good book. Later, we returned to our campsite where our cooking merit badge chefs whipped up delicious cucumber sandwiches and pita pizzas. The night ended with a campfire, where we indulged in a decadent Dutch oven chocolate cake and s'mores cones. We all pitched into help clean and then headed to bed for the night.
The following morning, we woke up early to take down our tents while our breakfast cooks prepared french toast and bagels. During breakfast, we had to shoo away some crows attempting to steal our food. Afterward, we cleaned up the campsite and embarked on a short hike to a viewpoint. We had a wonderful time admiring the wildflowers and spotting some deer. We even took some impromptu photos on a scenic staircase before relaxing on benches at the mountain's peak. We then headed back down the mountain, and returned home. Despite our small group of only five scouts, we had an unforgettable time on this camping trip.
