10/29 - 10/31 Fall Camporee

On 10/29 many scouts from Troop 2123 went to Ranchos Los Mochos for a weekend of fun. We stayed there for two nights, and got a full day to do fun activities such as hatchet throwing, shooting sports, archery, scout skill based contests, pumpkin carving, and a Dutch oven cookoff.

We had a little trouble finding camp, but once we did, we got straight onto setting up our tents and settling in. After everyone was settled in, we cooked dinner and ate a yummy meal. (we always cook the best food :) Then, the leaders were off to the leaders' meeting where we were given information about the activities that would be held the next day... and we got ice cream and cookies!

The next morning, everyone was up and it was time to make breakfast, and well as make and pack the sandwiches for lunch that scouts could carry in their daypacks. We did run a little late, but we got to flags and morning announcements. Once that was over, we were off to enjoy the rest of our day with the group of scouts we were assigned with. Throughout the day, we competed in many contests and fun challenges. Scores were kept, and winners were announced later. (we won two things

Later in the day is when three main contests were going to start. One where a few scouts from our troop tried to build the tallest tower using just logs and rope. Then there was the pumpkin carving contest. And right next to the pumpkin carving contest was the Dutch oven cookoff. Troop 2123 was able to build the tallest tower, and cook the ugliest, but best tasting desert of the night! Afterwards, we all gathered around the campfire for some fun performances. Saanvi sang a song she wrote, and Suhani, Sahana, Jisha, Siyona, and Gaurisha performed a skit about Halloween. Instead of our regular smore's, the kitchen was treating all the scouts to warm brownies afterwards.

After the campfire, we all head to bed. The next morning, we were up early, quickly made breakfast, and headed down to flags. After flags, they handed out the awards to the winners of the contests. Then we headed back to camp, and sadly the camporee was coming to an end. We packed up all of our things and headed back home.

The camporee was so much fun, and we are all so grateful we got this experience. It was so different than our usual outings, in the way that we got to meet so many people from other troops nearby, and had so many opportunities to try so many new things. Overall, the Fall Camporee was so much fun, and we hope to get to do something like this again!
